FAQ- YOUTH CLUBS
• What is the difference between a certified copy of a birth certificate and the copy I receive from the hospital of my child’s birth?
A certified copy records theactual birth information and legal requirements in the state the child was born.
The certificate you receive at the hospital is just a record of a "live birth" of a child for the hospital. It is not a legal acknowledgment of abirth until the paperwork is certified by the county.
• What happens with the LEAP club account when the member reaches age 18?
After the member turns 18, the Leap Club account is closed and the funds are transferred into the primary share/saving account. To accurately calculate earned dividends MPECU waits until the end of the quarter to process this transfer.
• What happens to the Cub Club when the member reaches ages 12?
After the member turns 12, the Cub Club account is closed and the funds are transferred into a LEAP Club account. To accurately calculate earned dividends, MPECU waits until the end of the quarter to process this transfer.
• Do you have any special programs, products, or services for kids?
MPECU offers a Cub Club Jr., 0-6 years of age, and the Cub Club Sr., 7-11 years of age. After you open a primary share account with a deposit of at least $5.25, you can join one of the Cub Clubs with an additional deposit of at least $10. Once a member, Cubby, the Cub Club president starts sending fun and educational things in the mail.
MPECU also has a L.E.A.P Club account for our youth ages 11 to 17 who want to learn and receive cool things in the mail. Again, to join, just open a primary share account with a deposit of $5.25 and join the L.E.A.P Club by depositing $10!
Throughout the year MPECU will have special incentives for being a Cub or Leap member.
• I want to open an account for my child/grandchild? What do I need to do this?
In order to open an account for a minor, we would need an official copy of their birt hcertificate (the certificate from the hospital is not considered an official copy). All minor accounts must have a joint owner over the age of 18 who would qualify for membership at MPECU. This can be done at the Main Office and the Branch Office.
